Alice Jenks

IQI Machine appliqued, embroidered and quilted on a domestic sewing machine. Hand and machine beaded. Started in an NSNG workshop several years ago. It was supposed to be double-sided, but I opted for one side only.

Pearls, pearls, pearls!

Beading wire and beading thread used. Freshwater pearls come in many sizes and shapes. This set was planned to wear to my daughter, Susan’s, wedding but it wasn’t done by August 16. Now it’s ready to be worn.

Cyclone

Alice Jenks

Fused appliqué, machine appliqué & machine quilting. This exuberant rendition of the color wheel spins off into a cyclone.

Scheherazade

Alice Jenks

Started in a Laura Wasilowski workshop using silk she dyed. The bird is a smaller version of a wire and yarn wrapped piece I designed many years ago. (Silk hand dyed by Laura Wasilowski. Bird is an Alice Jenks Original design. Crocheted edge of silk piece appliqued to background. Chain stitch variations on bird.)

Sparkling Snowflake

Alice Jenks

Using a pattern I folded on an iridescent organza fused to interfacing, I added bugle beads, seed beads and one Swarovski crystal to each side. It will hang in my west window to add sparkle to my condo. (Folded paper pattern cut from iridescent organza, embellished with iridescent beads.)

Alice Jenks

Polymer clay with quilting-type designs on the background. Started in an NSNG polymer clay workshop with Christi Friesen. The swirls in the background are very quilt-like. Beads were added using wire or thread.

IQI Machine pieced and quilted. A workshop with Linda McGehee was intended to result in a table runner. Instead I decided to make a Halloween Vest. A lime green Ultrasuede dress provided trim and ties to make this tabard-style vest adjustable.
