IQI Machine appliqued, embroidered and quilted on a domestic sewing machine. Hand and machine beaded. Started in an NSNG workshop several years ago. It was supposed to be double-sided, but I opted for one side only.
Beading wire and beading thread used. Freshwater pearls come in many sizes and shapes. This set was planned to wear to my daughter, Susan’s, wedding but it wasn’t done by August 16. Now it’s ready to be worn.
Started in a Laura Wasilowski workshop using silk she dyed. The bird is a smaller version of a wire and yarn wrapped piece I designed many years ago. (Silk hand dyed by Laura Wasilowski. Bird is an Alice Jenks Original design. Crocheted edge of silk piece appliqued to background. Chain stitch variations on bird.)
Using a pattern I folded on an iridescent organza fused to interfacing, I added bugle beads, seed beads and one Swarovski crystal to each side. It will hang in my west window to add sparkle to my condo. (Folded paper pattern cut from iridescent organza, embellished with iridescent beads.)

Machine pieced and machine quilted by me. This is the third quilt I’ve made using this pattern from a class led by Judy Gould at an IQI Quilt-In sometime in the 1980’s. It was made for my son, JR, and his wife, Kara, and now also for their twins, Emerson Lee and Riley James JenksContinue reading “I Spy a Pair of Twins

IQI Machine pieced and quilted. A workshop with Linda McGehee was intended to result in a table runner. Instead I decided to make a Halloween Vest. A lime green Ultrasuede dress provided trim and ties to make this tabard-style vest adjustable.
Hand appliquéd. Machine quilted. Embellished with decorative butterfly buttons that were created by Susan Clarke. Started many years ago in a workshop with Nancy Pearson (probably in the 1980s). The appliqué was finished that year, but the piece was put away. It recently surfaced and I decided to finish it. I had originally started toContinue reading “Butterflies on an Iris Wreath
Off-loom beading using peyote, right-angle weave and free form embellishment stitches. The bracelet was started in an NSNG workshop last April with Rachel Nelson Smith using her pattern and beads she provided in the class kit. For the necklace, using the same beads and starting with her concept of a peyote stitched background, I addedContinue reading “Sand and Surf
