Machine appliqued, pieced, fused, machine quilted, beaded. The challenge to depict earth, air, fire and water immediately brought an erupting Hawaiian volcano to mind: where else are all four present at once? The quilt’s title comes form the Hawaiian goddesses; Fire (Pele), Natture/Earth (Papa), Sea (Namaka) and the god of Wind (Paka’a).

Mini Cats Galore

Paper pieced, quilted with 3D ears and bead noses. Pattern was from 1996 and the paper piecing technique was reversed from current versions.

Fabric panel cut vertically and inserts added. Just wanted to experiment with this technique. Found the panel and fabric to enhance the image.

World Tour

Machine pieced, hand-dyed, machine quilted (longarm). Created as part of the world tour sewalong, hosted by the pattern designer,  I had hand dyed a stack of bright, spring colors.
