Machine pieced and quilted. I had a wonderful time with this year’s challenge. I got started early enough to make sure I got my pinwheels put together correctly and really enjoyed the challenge of mismatched fabrics.

Silk ties fused onto interface then machine pieced and quilted. These are the leftovers of a larger piece that was a gift and is now in San Francisco. I had a lot of fun with the very asymmetrical pieces left over.
My Many HomesMelanie Anderson
Machine pieced & appliquéd, embellished with buttons. I was totally taken with another member’s use of aerial photos and old men’s shirts and decided to make my own. Each button and challenge fabric represents a different segment of my life in Illinois. Legend is on the back.
God’s Curse or God’s Blessing?Melanie Anderson
Machine pieced and quilted, silk and cotton. This quilt started out as a donation quilt for Lutheran World Relief. When the top was complete, I decided I liked it too much to let go. Machine pieced and quilted. I saw a quilt similar to this during a shop-hop and snapped a picture years ago. A dear friend gave me her Liberty of London scraps and I took the liberty of copying from the photo.
Bamboo DreamMelanie Anderson
Machine piecing and quilting, hand applique. I really enjoyed making this piece. Each square was cut randomly in three places, then one inch strips were inserted. The outcome was a surprise!
Dotty WorldMelanie Anderson
Pieced, appliqued, machine free motion quilted. I’d just “perfected” the art of making veined leaves, so this was an opportunity to use them to fulfill our Challenge requirements.
