Red White and Black Squared

Patricia Niffenegger

The maker of the 8 red-framed small squares is unknown. The squares appeared in my stash and play nicely with other black/white fabrics I found. Long arm quilter: Quilter’s Heaven quilt shop, Northbrook, IL

Declaration of Intent

Patricia Tamandl Niffenegger

Fused, machine pieced, machine quilted. Although Emile Zola (1840-1902) was a French novelist, not a visual artist, I found this quote inspirational in making my textile pieces. My work reflects a love of bright, saturated colors, words as part of the design and a mix of fabric and techniques.

Brigadoon Star

Pat Niffenegger

Quilt was inspired by the night dancing scene in the movie Brigadoon. After taking a day-long Amish quilt workshop, I watched Gene Kelly in a light blue shirt dance in the dark woods with Cyd Charisse in a scarlet dress. (Machine pieced, hand quilted.)

Chartreuse & Purple Squared

Pat Niffenegger

Machine pieced & quilted. Using the flower fabric as inspiration & two favorite colors (chartreuse & purple) in mostly batik fabrics, I pieced the quilt. It was quilted by Debbie Bookman.

Art Saves (Anonymous and Me Series #3)

Pat Niffenegger

Machine pieced, hand and machine quilted, embellished with buttons & vintage crocheted potholder. This is the third in a series of wall hanging-size quilts using a crafted piece created by another person. I found the face potholder in an antique shop & was intrigued by the maker’s ingenuity.

If You Ask Me

Pat Niffenegger

Fused, machine pieced & quilted. I love to use words as part of my art. This was my first attempt to use fusing as a technique, learned in a class by Chris Kirsch in Minocqua, WI several years ago.

Harlequin

Linda L. Norby

I weave on a simple wooden frame using a 6 inch needle. In this piece, I wanted to combine rounded and straight lines and shapes, using bright colors. (Hand-woven.)

Pangea

Hand -Woven I was inspired to try new forms of weaving by some contemporary works I saw at the Seattle Museum ofArt.
