Orchid Study I

Stephanie Nordlin

Fused appliqué, free-motion quilted and thread painted. A photo was manipulated in Photoshop for color, printed and traced to make the appliqué pattern.

P Cubed

Stephanie Nordlin

Fused appliqué, machine quilted and embroidered, hand beaded. Motifs are in Prime numbers, Primary colors and the background is Primordial.

Vera Ann

Katie Ordover

Machine pieced & longarm quilted. I made this quilt for my cousin, Vera Ann, who was named after her dear great grandmother. It is based on the “Oops a Daisy” pattern with original appliqué design. I always add a bit of black to my baby quilts for sophistication.

Not So Easy Pieces

Beth Polonsky

Machine pieced & machine quilted. I took a class with Margaret Miller. I wasn’t real fond of the colors and the “calico” prints. So after many many years I decided to “round robin” in batiks. I love the transition from old fabrics to new.

Green Apples

Marilyn Pospishil-Greve

Hand pieced and hand quilted. Not a machine stitch on this quilt. I’ve always been drawn to the apple core pattern. After purchasing a new “retro recliner” I needed a “nap quilt” to throw on the couch. All the fabrics came from my stash except one.

Spinning Light

Marilyn Pospishil-Greve

Hand pieced and hand quilted. No machine stitching. Inspired by the grape fabric and playing with two sizes of triangles, I came up with this pattern. Being a beginner quilter I had no idea how difficult it would be to use Insul-Bright as a batting: I broke lots of needles.

Baskets Galore

Valerie Rodelli

Block piecing with batik fabrics. Machine quilted on a longarm by longarm quilter Barbara Deletzke. This quilt was an exchange block with 2 friends. It is finally quilted & finished after many years.

Mixed-Media Book

Valerie Rodelli

Painting, printing, embossing, stitching and all kinds of mixed-media techniques. Hand & machine techniques. A first try at bookmaking. The ideas for the pages were inspired by a class at a CREATE retreat.

Abigail’s Gowns

Martha Ross-Mockaitis

Machine sewn & quilted. The Civil War is of great interest to me. I love the reproduction fabrics, their patterns and colors. This quilt is my way to honor the women who sacrificed so much on both sides of the war. I wanted to honor the 150th anniversary of the war.

Angle Antics

Martha Ross-Mockaitis

Machine sewn and quilted. Hand crafted batik fabric from Malaysia. Working with this hand made batik fabric was a challenge! The pattern warned that “the design elements will not match up”. I love the energy of the design and the colors created by other artists.
