Vera AnnKatie Ordover
Machine pieced & longarm quilted. I made this quilt for my cousin, Vera Ann, who was named after her dear great grandmother. It is based on the “Oops a Daisy” pattern with original appliqué design. I always add a bit of black to my baby quilts for sophistication.
Walk in the MountainsJeanette B. Page
Hand appliqué and machine quilted by Sue DiVarco. Spring in the Rockies. My favorite season and place.
Stained Glass Slash and DashPhyllis Paulo
Machine pieced & professionally quilted. When Harriet Bertsche offered to teach “Stained Glass Stack and Whack” I was so excited because I was intrigued by this pattern. Not So Easy PiecesBeth Polonsky
Machine pieced & machine quilted. I took a class with Margaret Miller. I wasn’t real fond of the colors and the “calico” prints. So after many many years I decided to “round robin” in batiks. I love the transition from old fabrics to new.
Green ApplesMarilyn Pospishil-Greve
Hand pieced and hand quilted. Not a machine stitch on this quilt. I’ve always been drawn to the apple core pattern. After purchasing a new “retro recliner” I needed a “nap quilt” to throw on the couch. All the fabrics came from my stash except one.
Spinning LightMarilyn Pospishil-Greve
Hand pieced and hand quilted. No machine stitching. Inspired by the grape fabric and playing with two sizes of triangles, I came up with this pattern. Being a beginner quilter I had no idea how difficult it would be to use Insul-Bright as a batting: I broke lots of needles.
Baskets GaloreValerie Rodelli
Block piecing with batik fabrics. Machine quilted on a longarm by longarm quilter Barbara Deletzke. This quilt was an exchange block with 2 friends. It is finally quilted & finished after many years.
Mixed-Media BookValerie Rodelli
Painting, printing, embossing, stitching and all kinds of mixed-media techniques. Hand & machine techniques. A first try at bookmaking. The ideas for the pages were inspired by a class at a CREATE retreat.
Abigail’s GownsMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Machine sewn & quilted. The Civil War is of great interest to me. I love the reproduction fabrics, their patterns and colors. This quilt is my way to honor the women who sacrificed so much on both sides of the war. I wanted to honor the 150th anniversary of the war.
Angle AnticsMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Machine sewn and quilted. Hand crafted batik fabric from Malaysia. Working with this hand made batik fabric was a challenge! The pattern warned that “the design elements will not match up”. I love the energy of the design and the colors created by other artists.
Carol’s Dragon CoatPat Rued
Hand dying, painted shibori, digital printing. The dragon panel was a wall hanging that had been in Carol’s home for years. It had been a gift from her sister. Carol asked that it be used in making a coat that would mark a significant birthday. The challenge was making colors and patterns that would workContinue reading “Carol’s Dragon Coat
