Carol’s Dragon Coat

Pat Rued

Hand dying, painted shibori, digital printing. The dragon panel was a wall hanging that had been in Carol’s home for years. It had been a gift from her sister. Carol asked that it be used in making a coat that would mark a significant birthday. The challenge was making colors and patterns that would work with the panel. At first we thought it should be red but that didn’t seem to work. In playing and laying out colors the hand dyed teal fabric and the painted shibori worked best. The addition of the digital dragon carries the theme through the entire coat. Every bit of the wallhanging was used to complete the trim.
