Homage to Giverny

Nona C Flores

Fused appliqué, inkjet-printed photos on cotton and silk, TAP transfer of text, long-arm quilting. I have had the pleasure of visiting Claude Monet’s home and gardens at Giverny during different seasons, and have always found it enchanting, especially the Waterlily Pond. The long-arm quilting and binding was done by Sue DiVarco.

Spring Bouquet

Nona C Flores

Pre-cut fusible-backed appliqué, topstitched in black thread, long-arm quilting. I have long admired the appliquéd Baltimore Album quilts and was immediately drawn to this Edyta Sitar design. The black top-stitching was meant to look like pen-and-ink embellishment. Sue DiVarco did the beautiful long-arm quilting background.

Butterfly Garden

Nona C Flores

IQI Pieced, fused applique, stencil with PaintStik, bead embroidery, image transfer with inkjet printer, machine quilted. Getting the butterfly to float over the surface of this piece was the easiest part of construction. The photos were all taken at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
