I’ll Take Mine Modern

Peta Minerof Bartos

Fusible appliqué, free-hand longarm quilting (FMQ) on HandiQuilter/Avante This quilt was completed after taking a class with the artist. I gained enormous confidence in my quilting skills, and really enjoyed seeing what my machine and I could do.

East Meets Morris

Carole Bates

The medllion was from a Broderie Perse class with Anita Shakleford. The rest is my design. I used more than 2 miles of gold thread for the embroidery. (Needleturn hand applique, Broderie Perse, embroidery, beading and hand quilted.)

Tuscan Starry Nights

Ronald Bedard

Machine pieced, machine quilted by Sally Evanshank I set the original design on point, used all star blocks rather than alternating stars and plain blocks, selected a scrappier background, and added the sashing. The result is a quilt that reminds me of Tuscany at night.

Cosmic Rhapsody

Ronald Bedard

Foundation pieced; machine appliqué; machine quilted by Sally Evanshank The unusual lone star (a wonderful Karen Stone pattern) went through several color variations; I finally used the color wheel to finalize the scheme. The appliqué is an original design, using techniques learned from Ricky Tims and his hand-dyed fabrics.
