Nature Dome

Penny Burns

Box was made in Steve Pittlekow’s class of paper I marbled and using botanical handmade paper made by Velma Bolyard, a friend of Steve’s. The top is made from Amber, clay and glass beads.

Blue Jar

Allison Cohen

The jar uses tumbler blocks cut from a Kaffe Fassett fabric. The tumbler pieces remain in order as printed on the fabric. The seam allowance squishes the image creating a crackled-glaze effect on the ceramic jar. The piece was inspired by a ceramic show I was invited to enter and Bisa Butler’s work.

This piece was very fun to make as it had the right balance of structure and freeform fabric application. It was made for my brother to celebrate his 60th birthday.
