Using a collection of Asian inspired fabrics gathered through the years, the pattern called to me. (Machine pieced pattern from Quiltmaker magazine. Machine quilting by Windy City Quilting.)

Too Koi to Count
Snowball CandyAmy Parker
I almost always begin a project because there are particular fabrics I want to use. Here I started with Cherrywood hand dyes and a set of batiks I received as a gift. (Machine pieced and longarm quilted by me.)
Summer BreezeBarbara Peterson
This was a mystery quilt from GEL Design Mystery Quilts. The mystery was entitled Elemental. I chose fabric from the Weather Report Line. Some of the designs were challenging. I pieced the front and back and Barb Jolley was the longarmer. (Machine quilted, the back is my own design.)
Arizona CallingBeth Polonsky
It is great to take a class and have everything in your stash. Old fabrics mixed well with new and a textured piece from a class many years ago. (Machine sewn and quilted. Fused. Textured.)
BroccoliStaci Raymond
I was drawn to the quirkiness of making a broccoli quilt. To bead and make broccoli ornate was a funny contrast to the basic vegetable. The center broccoli medallion dictated the color scheme for this quilt. (Machine pieced, hand quilted, hand beading and buttons on the surface, Incorporated found quilt squares.)
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish IIStaci Raymond
This was the second of a three part series of quilts inspired by the book “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”. It also references my study of African American strip quilts. (Machine pieced and hand tied.)
PansiesStaci Raymond
This is my idea of an improvisational medallion quilt. The colors in the center pansies square influenced the scrap color choices in the quilt. The bright colors and flowers remind me of summer. (Machine pieced, hand quilted, hand beading and buttons on the surface.)
Untitled II with Red SquaresStaci Raymond
I like repurposing fabrics. Some squares were from a favorite pair of pants, a shirt and other clothing items. I enjoy using vibrant colors and interesting combinations for an unexpected result. (Machine pieced and hand tied.)
WindowsStaci Raymond
I am process oriented when I quilt and don’t have the end result in mind. I like the random and slightly unbalanced feel of the squares. The rainbow grid structure helps to create windows or vignettes. (Machine pieced, hand quilted and hand beading on the surface.)
MoneyStaci Raymond
Our guild had a challenge to make a record album size quilt inspired by a song., This is my interpretation of Money by Pink Floyd. (Machine pieced, hand quilting, and beading on the surface.)
Purple RainStaci Raymond
Our guild had a challenge to make a record album size quilt inspired by a song., This is my interpretation of Purple Rain by Prince. (Machine pieced, hand quilted and beading.)
Red RainStaci Raymond
Our guild had a challenge to make a record album size quilt inspired by a song., This is my interpretation of Red Rain by Peter Gabriel. (Machine pieced, hand quilted and beading.)
I Can See the Resemblance…Julie Rivera
Reflections of me and my mom. (My botanical printed fabric, applique, stencils, twine, hand embroidery.)
One Thousand and One Matisse MemoriesJulie Rivera
This piece is an ode to my love of Matisse. It was inspired by one of his cut-outs, One Thousand and One Nights. That reproduction along with many books surrounded me every day. (Applique, machine and hand embroidery, machine pieced.)
The World Needs a Little More MagentaJulie Rivera
(Hand applique, hand quilted, my natural dyed fabric, natural botanical printed.)
Pandemic EvolutionValerie Rodelli
This piece began with improvisational piecing towards the beginning of the pandemic – things were “calm”. Then things became “Chaotic”. Finally many things about society were “Fractured”. These words are the names of individual pieces in this triptich. (Improvisationally pieced, sashiko stitched, machine quilted.)
Passage of GriefValerie Rodelli
This piece was started shorty after the loss of a dear friend. I didn’t then realize that it was my personal statement. The darkest background parts at the bottom signify the darkest moments. The background color lightens toward the top, signifying the lifting of the grief. The colorful areas are the happy moments we shared.Continue reading “Passage of Grief

Yoyo FunMartha Ross-Mockaitis
What a playful pattern! The zipper shows on the back so cute. The mix of colors and patterns makes me smile. (Hand made yoyo’s. machine piecing and quilting.)
