Our Side of the Wall

Kathy Downie

Hand dyed and discharged focal fabric, machine piecing, ric-rac accent, and free motion machine quilting. This is our side of the wall, I wonder what is on the other side.

Party Dress

Shirley B. Engelstein

Hand knitting, hand sewing, tearing. The almost giddy excitement created by the bright, shimmering stainless steel open form above the strength of the tailored heavy paper somehow proves that opposites attract.

Through the Wicket

Shirley B. Engelstein

Created design for wicket. Used hand knitting & sewing on cylinder. Through the wicket: I think of this as a game for grown-ups, as aiming the open-ended cylinder through the arch may be more challenging than it looks. Good luck!

Over the Next Hill

Barbara Feinberg

Shredded fabric, machine quilted. When I am driving and approach a hill that has tall trees on each side of the road I always expect to see Lake Michigan – even if I am in Deerfield, Champaign or Missouri. This quilt was created in Lenore Crawford’s Shredd Fabric Art Quilt Workshop.

Crossroads

Iva Freeman

Machine pieced. Hand quilting. I love working with solid colors, either hand dyed or off the bolt, or sometimes from rummage sales.

Hoopla

Iva Freeman

Machine pieced and machine quilted. Machine quilted by Sue DiVarco. I wanted to use fabrics I hadn’t used but really liked from my collection.

Banyon Tree

Joan Galantha

Free motion machine, layering, quilting (machine). For me, the Banyon Tree represents life’s journey. Standing tall, strong, and setting down permanent roots.

I Saw It, I Wanted It, I Made It

Sandra Geis

Machine pieced, machine quilted. I always enjoy Kaffe quilts, but once in a while I just have to have one exactly like in the book. The machine quilting was done by my friend Anne Spiotta, Blue House Quilts.

Circus Poster 1 – The Elephants

Anne Goldberg

Fusible applique; machine quilting; bead and ribbon embellishment. This quilt was designed for the IQI June challenge. I’m iffy about using real elephants in a circus, but quilted elephants are OK.

Comet Quil-hou-tek

Diane Greening

Machine pieced and quilted commercial fabrics with angelina embellishment. The design of the flying comet was inspired by the IQI Challenge fabric that looked like outer space to me, so I used it for the background.
