Hand & machine pieced, hand quilted. This project lived in my head for many years before I had the time to make it. It took about 6 months, start to finish.
All machine piecing & quilting. Laurie Gorton taught this class at the Quilt-In 2013. The central square was done with Laurie’s help. The rest was put together after 2 days of unsuccessfully trying to sew the other 3 squares. Then I just started to put this quilt together, it is magical it turned out!
Each woman in the study donated her 5″ square. I think there are 2 or 3 other quilts like this somewhere. The WHI (Women’s Health Initiative) 1995 – 2005. After the study concluded this quilt has been homeless. Anyone who can give it a home is welcomed to it.

Machine stitched quilt top – Joan Schnadig. All over quilted by Maureen Tinley. I started with the middle section and worked out over the course of about a year. When I finished I went back and added the black border around the middle.
