Hand dyed whole cloth quilt embellished with fabric mosaic. The hot summer colors obscure the summer house and its reflection. The cool water offers a bold contrast as it ripples across the lake.

Summer House on Tracy’s Lake
The House in the ForestDebbi Plato
Stiffened felt finished with watercolor paints. It is easy to imagine trees bending in the wind and the evening light fading as the approach to this mysterious house becomes ever more uncertain.
Scuba DivingDebbi Plato
Collage, free motion embroidery, beading. This reminds me of scuba diving in warm seas.
Towards Beachy HeadDebbi Plato
Fabric mosaic, watercolor, hand stitched, machine quilted. This is one of my favorite views along the coast near my home in Sussex, England. The cliffs fall dramatically into the sea.
Dye-ing for FlowersBeth Polonsky
Hand dyed cotton and rayon, commercial fabric, machine pieced and quilted, hand beading. These fabric squares were hand dyed with plant and bug material during a 4-week class at the Botanic Garden. Dyes came from indigo, logwood, madder and weld as well as cochineal, a bug found in the desert.
How Do You Title a Vest?Beth Polonsky
Bled dyed wool, machine pieced. This vest was designed and created in a NSNG workshop with Jean Cacicedo.
Kaffe’s Hot DiamondsColette Quigley
Machine pieced and quilted. Quiltology interpretation of Kaffe Fassett’s “Hot Diamonds” quilt. Pieced by Colette Cogley. Quilted by Sally Evanshank/Windy City Quilting.
Not the Dead Sea ScrollsValerie Rodelli
Applique, machine quilted. This is an original design of scrolls based on a technique class with Cara Gulati. It is a color exercise in order to get “dimension” and “movement” within. Extensive machine quilting added to the movement. A fun quilt to make.
Visions of JapanValerie Rodelli
“Fractured Images” technique created with fabric panels. Heavy thread embellishment both on quilt top and with quilting of quilt. I loved this panel and I loved the technique, so combined these for this quilt. A math sequence gives the effect of shimmering or “fracturing” with the cutting of squares.
