Copper Leaf

Kathleen V. Stuart

Fused fabics for background. Leaf was made by longarm quilting on dissolve fusible with copper metallic thread. I’m trying to step out of my box and try my hand at art quilting. I golf and saw a leaf like this on the course. I went home and decided to see if I could “quilt” one.

Shabby Chic

Kathleen V. Stuart

Wholecloth on silk dupioni quilted with metallic thread and wool batting. I love wholecloth quilts and silk fabric, so this is an example of how to have both! I’m still working out the problems of working with silk and metallic. This quilt won a teacher’s award at MQS in Kansas City, 2009.
