Winter Sunset

Terry Simeone

Machine piecing; hand quilting; indigo-dyed; katazome (rice resist) printed fabric. I was inspired during many late afternoon skis in the woods, when the rapidly-setting sun changes the sky from deep blue to pink and finally to gray, and those magical moments when the bare treetops seem to be dipped in gold. This piece began in a workshop on improvisational piecing taught by Heidi Parkes, sponsored by NSNG. Materials are indigo-dyed and printed by me, vintage textiles and salvaged fabric scraps.
