Stenciled Rose Quilt

Kathleen Grum

Machine quilted. I saw this quilt at the Winterthur Quilt Exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum, August, 2010. It immediately caught my eye due to the stenciled rose pattern. My maternal grandmother Mary Rose had the time and patience to teach me to sew and she loved roses. This is dedicated to her memory. I have Monica Larson and Trisha Mack to thank for inspiring me to begin ‘real’ quilting. I have been making t-shirt quilts for over 20 years for both family and friends as well as for sale. My thanks to: Monica Larson for taking me to quilt shows and donating thirty-one 2 inch squares from her stash for the nine patch blocks, Wendy Koch for making the stencil design and help in painting. Susan Grum for the stencil paints and being my roommate at my 1st Quilt-In 2010 where I assembled the quilt top. Jill Koczwara for the machine quilting and new-found friend who has quilted all my t-shirt quilts.
