Mixed media – rock, wire, gel medium, paint, fabric. In Aruba, I found hundreds of dead sea fans washed up on shore. In spite of this evidence of dying reefs, the brown and brittle sea fans are still undeniably beautiful! It is illegal to bring any plant life, even dead, into the US, so I felt a need to create my own sculptural sea fans, showing the brilliant colors of sea fans in thriving reefs.
