Prairie Field Flowers

Diana Urso

Hand woven

During the month of August, I noticed fields of natural prairie plants around my home in Willowbrook, IL. Multiple shades of green, with tiny blue, yellow, white and salmon blooms speckled the wind-swept fields. (Yes, we still have some of these untouched lots in our area.) Those colors, in their most natural form inspired this design. These designs have been hand woven on an upright, 6′ adjustable triangle loom at which I stand in front of and literally hand weave each stitch, starting from the two upper right and left corners and then working in toward the apex or center of the piece. Each piece took 3-4 days to complete (24-32 hours). My triangle shawls are sold at boutiques, art centers and specialty shops all over the country. Custom work is available.
