Nevertheless, She Persisted!

Leslie Travis

Hand appliqued, hand and machine quilted and machine pieced. I made this quilt in 2017 after attending the Women’s March on Washington, coming back to Chicago and protesting the next day at O’Hare Airport against the Muslim Ban. The quilt shows generations of women on the steps of the United States Supreme Court mobilized around themes which have occupied the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of our government since the conception of our country. Despite opposition, every woman who has marched or worked for her cause can say that “Nevertheless, she persisted.” Design Source – Original.
