Garden Kaleidoscope

I collected fabrics for over 10 years to make a quilt inspired by Paula Nadelstern’s kaleidoscope designs and methods. I constructed the center in concentric layers. Once the central medallion was completed, I wanted to carry the floral design elements into an appliqued border using the same fabrics and colors. The flowers that are represented are favorites and I used some older fabrics — at least two are nearly 70 years old — that carry memories of people that were special to me.
