For Julie – With a Lot of Help from my friends

Gretchen Alexander

Machine pieced; machine quilted by Windy City Quilters. I learned the Crazy Quilt Stack and Whack technique in an Elizabeth Mini NSNG workshop. The blocks languished in a box for several years until I saw how Debbie Plato used sashing with her crazy quilt blocks. Christine Ischkum and Elisabeth Licata, friends from my weekly quilting group, Quilt Connection, provided the design inspirations for the borders and the jewel-like square blocks in the sashing. The friendship, encouragement, and creative collaboration of friends brought a long-held collection of fabrics into the reality of a quilt for my daughter Julie, who had selected many of the fabrics about 20 years ago.
