80 Wishes for Mom

Mario Alonso

Machine pieced & quilted. Back applique “80”. This was an 80th birthday gift for my mom, Margarita. This quilt has 80 pieces of fabric and each represented a year and a wish she could make. The side borders are “M”s for her name. She was a great creator and loved projects of all kinds. I remember as a child that she would always let me wind the bobbin with the treadle. I still like winding the bobbin every time. Mom was very crafty and was always making something, whether a dress for my sister, to macramé with my dad, needle point, and ultimately a very prolific cross stitcher. She passed on her love of making things to me and now quilting is what I do. This is my own design, which I pieced and quilted myself. Thanks Mom!
