1930’s Sampler

Judy Hillebrand

Machine piecing, hand appliqué, embellished with yo-yos. The border was machine pieced & adjusted evenly to fit all sides, This pattern by Lori Smith, “An Ode to the ’30’s; A Sampler Quilt” was offered at A Touch of Amish in Barrington as a Block of the Month. I chose to work with my collection of 1930’s reproduction prints and had the most fun choosing the fabrics. I decided the quilt needed a pieced border and found this “Drunkard’s Path” design in a Jinny Beyer book from the 1980’s. It took a few extra weeks to get it done, but I really liked the result. The quilt was quilted by Dawn Larsen of Libertyville, IL.
