Dream Cycles

Pat Kroth

Hand-dyed, wax painted, machine felted and quilted. Riding my bike outdoors is a favorite past time providing exercise & inspiration.

Ginkgo Winds

Pat Kroth

Hand-dyed, sun-printed cotton, machine stitched. Fall is my favorite season for its beautiful color display & swirling winds of change. I took liberties with the changing color of these ginkgoes.

Cool Grasses

Pat Kroth

Hand-dyed and commercial fabrics. Improvisational composition, machine stitched. Observing grasses throughout the seasons inspired this piece; part of a series.

Low Spark

Pat Kroth

Hand-dyed and commercial fabrics, improvisational composition. This is part of a series exploring electricity & energy. We are accustomed to its convenience, and necessity, but awed by its power.

Leafscape

Pat Kroth

Hand-dyed, sun-printed images of leaves; fiber fragments, tulle, wrappers, fortunes, machine stitched. Looking through the ice on the forest floor in spring holds many surprises.

Too Sweet

Pat Kroth

Heat bonded fiber fragments, candy wrappers, found objects; toys, paperclips, buttons, trapped threads. Tulle overlays. Machine stitched. After my four kids left me a deposit of candy wrappers behind the couch one year after halloween, I started adding to the collection and including them in my work.

Twist of Lime

Pat Kroth

Hand-dyed fabric, heat bonded applique, machine embroidered and stitched with cotton, wool, rayon and polyester threads. Machine needle-felted with wool fibers. I trained for and competed in three full Ironman Triathlon events. During a particularly hot day out on the bike course I motivated myself by thinking of a tall cool drink.

Maple Dance

Pat Kroth

Hand-dyed and sun-printed cotton, machine stitched. Fall is my favorite season, not only for nature’s beautiful display, but for the winds of change that it brings.

Blooming Sweet

Pat Kroth

Hand-dyed and commercial fabrics, candy wrappers, buttons, vegetable bags, tulle, machine stitched. As a parent of 4 kids, over the years I have found candy wrappers stashed behind the couch and in the back of the van. Now I have chosen to put them to good use.
