Hand stitched and hand applique using traditional Japanese sashiko surface design. Machine stitched borders, hand quilted. This is a Sylvia Pippen design. I made the Sashiko surface design and loved every stitch! Several of the butterflies were appliqued at my mother’s bedside as I helped her die. My work is inconsistent because her room light was low. I decided not to change anything.
