Frafting photo,fabric collage, threadwork, quilting. This iceberg was “10” stories high and “3” blocks long. As we were photographing it, it began to calve (dripping water and dropping chunks of ice). It collapsed before our eyes, rolled over, and became a sea of ice chunks. Amazing! This piece was totally stitched. Picture is an original design from my sketchbook. After a workshop from our guild with Carol Naylor, I decided to try this technique of thread embroidery in a more abstract form. Design Source – Original window design.

Top is thread painted with thread to enhance & create texture. Machine quilted. Original picture I took. Cropped into a new composition. Zoomed in on a few large & colorful leaves with interesting veins.

Bead embroidery techniques on hand dyed fabric. Hand made paper lining the inside top. This was a sampling of beading & embroidery techniques made into an undersea scene.

Applique, much threadwork on top, then quilted. Some fabric is hand dyed, some commercial. Original design from my personal photograph. It was a beautiful iris in my sister’s garden in the Pacific NW. Immortalized in this interpretation.

Felt pieces arranged into composition, then machine quilted and embellished. This was inspired by a picture. Techniques were machine quilting & unique edge treatment.
