I Plant for Pollinators

Beth Polonsky

Fused cotton applique, machine quilted. I Plant for Pollinators was inspired by my yard. I grow what my neighbors think are weeds. My mantra is “a weed is just a plant you don’t want. I want it all.” (Original design guided by Jane Sassaman at an NSNG Summer Seminar) (Crazy B’s Group Project)

Old Jeans Never Die, They Just Get Reborn

Beth Polonsky

Working in small pieces, I coordinated my husband’s worn jeans with wool suiting samples. Scrap embellished with beads, buttons and trims. Hand embroidered, hand assembled. Note the button on the bottom square says “Polo”, used by family members to shorten Polonsky in business and making reservations!

Dye-ing for Flowers

Beth Polonsky

Hand dyed cotton and rayon, commercial fabric, machine pieced and quilted, hand beading. These fabric squares were hand dyed with plant and bug material during a 4-week class at the Botanic Garden. Dyes came from indigo, logwood, madder and weld as well as cochineal, a bug found in the desert.

My Happy Place

Beth Polonsky

Handwoven on loom, bead embellishments, commercial fabric. My happy place in the garden is in the English Walled Garden. The shades of yellow, the different sizes just make me smile. Design Source – Original design.

No Need for Beads

Beth Polonsky

Hand dyed fabric, machine quilted, machine pieced and raw edge applique. I am continually attempting to improve my free motion quilting. This piece gave me that opportunity. Design Source – Original design.

Not Quite My Palette

Beth Polonsky

Commercial fabric sewn Round Robin. Machine pieced, hand quilted. I love working with “left overs” especially left overs that are already pieced strips. Design Source – Original design.
