Rain SticksMarlene Marks
Machine pieced and quilted. Colorful “made” fabric is improvisationally pieced from scraps, cut into curvey strips and inserted onto a black ground.

Good FriendsMarlene Marks
Machine pieced. Long-arm quilted by Becky Chandler. This quilt was a round robin-style collaboration between @claudiakimbrough and myself. We met on Instagram in 2018, became good friends, and spent part ofour pandemic year mailing quilt tops back and forth between Chicago and Durham,NC!
Flow, PinkMarlene Marks
Machine pieced. Long-arm quilted by Sarah Evans. A “what if…?” piece of improvisational play. I was gifted a bundle of Japan-themed fabric and determined to use every bit of it. Creating this giant jigsaw puzzle of patchwork put me in a sustained state of flow.
Camping under PineJane M Mason
I saw this giant solitary pine tree and the fog behind it inspired this piece. There are suggestions of the Rocky Mountains in the background. (Rug hooking on linen with nad-dyed wool, boucle yarn and wool yarn.)
Carpe DiemJane M Mason
This piece was created from the center outward without any design or drawing. It just grew until it was done. The uneven exterior edge is a design reflecting all the unknowns in our lives. (Rug hooking on lilnen with hand-dyed wool, wool yarn, wool backing.)
