Red Rain

Staci Raymond

Our guild had a challenge to make a record album size quilt inspired by a song., This is my interpretation of Red Rain by Peter Gabriel. (Machine pieced, hand quilted and beading.)

Dancing Squares

Staci Raymond

Machine piecing, hand tied, hand beading, hand sewn yarn edge. I enjoy the unbalanced feel of Dancing Squares with its unexpected red steps, turtles, frogs and beading.

I Miss…

Staci Raymond

Machine pieced and hand tied. Quilting for me is like putting a puzzle together. I find pieces that fit and match as I go, not having to follow a specific pattern. It’s my form of meditation and the vibrant colors make me happy.

Dotty Bird

Staci Raymond

Machine pieced, hand quilted, beading and embellishment. Dotty Bird was our quilt guild challenge quilt this year. Creating a quilt that looked like an object versus my improvisational absrtact style was outside my comfort zone, but I really enjoyed the challenge. I liked the freeform feathers the added beading and the hand quilted dot patternContinue reading “Dotty Bird

Book Quilt

Staci Raymond

Machine piecing and hand quilting. I like the idea of re-purposing fabrics. I was given all of these scraps from a woman who made fabric covered books. There are so many things to discover in this colorful creation.

4th of July on the Farm

Staci Raymond

Machine pieced and hand tied. Sometimes a bit of fabric from a previous project sparks a new one. For this quilt, I decided to limit my pallet to red, white, blue, stars and stripes. A haphazard, patriotic log cabin with farm animals was the result.

Scrap Quilt II

Staci Raymond

Machine pieced and hand quilted. I am very process oriented and don’t have the end result in mind when I work. I like the random haphazardness of each square with the grid structure creating small windows or vignette.

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

Staci Raymond

Machine pieced and hand tied. The “One Fish, Two Fish” series started with creating an abstract fabric representation of the book. Each fabric square was a word. As the series evolved, I created additional quilts using excess pieces, scraps and other fabrics sparked from the original idea. This is the first of the three.

Dinosaurs and Bricks I

Staci Raymond

Machine pieced, hand quilted, and hand beading on the surface. Incorporated parts of a found quilt. Dinosaurs and Bricks are a very odd combination that I wanted to explore. The dancing shrimp make it even more fun, but the surface beading was certainly a labor of love.
