Spinning Light

Marilyn Pospishil-Greve

Hand pieced and hand quilted. No machine stitching. Inspired by the grape fabric and playing with two sizes of triangles, I came up with this pattern. Being a beginner quilter I had no idea how difficult it would be to use Insul-Bright as a batting: I broke lots of needles.

Kaffe’s Hot Diamonds

Colette Quigley

Machine pieced and quilted. Quiltology interpretation of Kaffe Fassett’s “Hot Diamonds” quilt. Pieced by Colette Cogley. Quilted by Sally Evanshank/Windy City Quilting.

Broccoli

Staci Raymond

I was drawn to the quirkiness of making a broccoli quilt. To bead and make broccoli ornate was a funny contrast to the basic vegetable. The center broccoli medallion dictated the color scheme for this quilt. (Machine pieced, hand quilted, hand beading and buttons on the surface, Incorporated found quilt squares.)

Pansies

Staci Raymond

This is my idea of an improvisational medallion quilt. The colors in the center pansies square influenced the scrap color choices in the quilt. The bright colors and flowers remind me of summer. (Machine pieced, hand quilted, hand beading and buttons on the surface.)

Untitled II with Red Squares

Staci Raymond

I like repurposing fabrics. Some squares were from a favorite pair of pants, a shirt and other clothing items. I enjoy using vibrant colors and interesting combinations for an unexpected result. (Machine pieced and hand tied.)

Windows

Staci Raymond

I am process oriented when I quilt and don’t have the end result in mind. I like the random and slightly unbalanced feel of the squares. The rainbow grid structure helps to create windows or vignettes. (Machine pieced, hand quilted and hand beading on the surface.)

Money

Staci Raymond

Our guild had a challenge to make a record album size quilt inspired by a song., This is my interpretation of Money by Pink Floyd. (Machine pieced, hand quilting, and beading on the surface.)

Purple Rain

Staci Raymond

Our guild had a challenge to make a record album size quilt inspired by a song., This is my interpretation of Purple Rain by Prince. (Machine pieced, hand quilted and beading.)
