Machine & hand pieced, hand quilted. My friend gave me a charm pack of batiks from the Fair Trader. I wanted to emphasize the color and African fabrics but keep the design simple. This is what evolved.

Make Mine a Dirty MartiniMarilyn Pospishil
Machine pieced and hand quilted. I thought it would be interesting to do something contemporary with the scraps of martini fabric that a friend gave me.
Ringing in of SpringMarilyn Pospishil
Hand applique, hand embroidered, hand quilted. I took a class on dimensional applique from Betty Ekern Suiter. I chose nontraditional fabrics and handquilted the piece like the flowers were on a trellis.
Cherry PieMarilyn Pospishil
Hand pieced and hand quilted. I was experimenting with what can be done with two different sized triangles. I loved the cherry fabric and this is what was “born”.
Honoring Those Who Protect Our FreedomMarilyn Pospishil
Hand pieced and hand quilted using three different kinds of thread. This piece is entirely hand sewn. I used three different colors of thread to highlight the quilting and the dimensional look of the quilt.
In Full BloomMarilyn Pospishil-Greve
Hand pieced, hand appliqued, hand quilted, hand embroidered and hand beaded. I had this idea for a contemporary art piece using my new “rushing skills” and my old embroidery skills. This art piece turned out much differently than I originally planned.
A Children’s PlaygroundMarilyn Pospishil-Greve
Hand embroidered, hand pieced, hand quilted, hand beaded. I embroidered the redwork pattern from Praise Publications of the children in blue. Then I decided to design an environment around them. The design just grew from there.
It Makes My Eyes DanceMarilyn Pospishil-Greve
Hand pieced and hand quilted. I was perplexed by the people fabric, so I finally put it up and designed this piece with lots of red and black.
Green ApplesMarilyn Pospishil-Greve
Hand pieced and hand quilted. Not a machine stitch on this quilt. I’ve always been drawn to the apple core pattern. After purchasing a new “retro recliner” I needed a “nap quilt” to throw on the couch. All the fabrics came from my stash except one.
