Exuberance!

Martha Ross-Mockaitis

I took an on-line class in January 2021 with Carl Hentsch. He is a great teacher on-line! His templates work well. I used fat quarters to make the colorwheel work. Backgrounds are from my stash. (Foundation piecing, machine piecing. Quilted by Amy Parker, Evanston.)

Oh Ukraine, I Honor You

Martha Ross-Mockaitis

This was a Mystery Quilt by Quilters Quest Quilt Shop starting in January 2021 on Zoom. Pieces were cut by my Accucut Cutter. Having steps revealed every two weeks kept me happily sewing during that C-19 winter. The colors show my support of Ukraine. (Machine piecing. Quilted by Amy Parker.)

Looking Out My Studio Window

Susan Sances

View from my studio of rose-breasted grossbeak that visited the feeder outside my window. Done during Matisse Magic class with Rosalie Dace. (Applique, machine quilting, thread painting, digital manipulation.)

Self Portrait

Susan Sances

Self portrait done during class with Rosalie Dace (Matisse Magic). Done from the perspective of what the Zoom audience sees of my studio. Hanging behind the figure are pictures of my actual fiber art. Inspired by Matisse’s “Red Studio”. (Applique, machine quilting, thread painting, digital manipulation.)

Beloved

Amy Spungen

I made this silk chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy) for my daughter Hannah’s wedding last May. The design incorporates pieces of both my wedding dress and Hannah’s (she didn’t want a train). (Machine pieced and stitched. Silk, including wedding dress remnants.)

Floaters

Amy Spungen

I made this quilt for my daughter Naomi. I began it at a workshop taught by Phyllis Fay. (Machine pieced and stitched cotton.)

New York Beauty Quilt

Ruth L Stegmeyer

The New York Beauty quilt was started in a workshop with Karen Stone in Minnesota. The quilt is paper pieced and machine quilted. It took over 2 years to finish it. (Paper pieced, and machine quilted.)

Christmas Wishes

Sue Sweeney

This was made for a special spot in my house. (Machine pieced, paper pieced. Edge to edge quilting on my embroidery machine. Beaded piping.)

Mystery Solved

Sue Sweeney

Sampler quilts are my favorite kind of quilt. This was a mystery BOM that kept my interest over the 12 month pattern reveal. Longarm quilting by Maureen O’Connor, Quilters Heaven, Northbrook. (Machine pieced, long arm machine quilted.)

Octopus’ Garden

Linda Tomkow

Octopuses are amazing creatures – this one is “walking” along the ocean floor among seaweed and maybe some dead corals. (Wet felted, hand dyed blue wool, stuffed octopus.)

Calla Lily

Luan Wold

I love the challenge of curved piecing, so I decided to see if I could do that technique on this piece. (All machine pieced except for the black stamen in the middle.)
