Stars in Strips

Nona C Flores

This is my first red, white and blue quilt in over 35 years of quilting. I really liked the strong graphic in Lisa Bongan’s “American Outlander” pattern. Custom long-arm machine quilting by Sue DiVarco. (Machine pieced, machine quilted.)

Stella

The elephant is named Stella for a character in the book “The One and Only Ivan”. Pattern “Elephant Abstraction” is by Violet Kraft. Custon longarm quilting by Sue DiVarco. (Foundation pieced, machine quilted.)

Iva Freeman

Dictionary definition of orange: any of a group of colors that lie midway between red and yellow in hue. (Machine pieced. Machine quilted by Amy Parker.)

Ooh! These Colors!

Iva Freeman

This is an improv quilt inspired by Cindy Grisdela with dyed fabric by Frieda Anderson. (Machine pieced and machine quilted.)

Copper Morning

Linny Coale Freeman

The brilliant red flowers and shimmering waters of Lake Michigan inspired me to paint this piece. I love the deep reds, lush oranges and pinks, dazzling coppers and bright warm greens that are abundant in the landscape. (Hand painted with fiber reactive dyes; batik process using hot wax; satin silk fibers.)

Yellow Morning

Linny Coale Freeman

This piece was a direct inspiration from my summer trip to the northern shores of Lake Michigan. I love to work with bold strong colors, creating vibrant contrasts of light. (Hand painted with fiber reactive dyes; batik process using hot wax; satin silk fibers.)

Four Moons

Anne Goldberg

At the beginning of Covid we were given four themes over a period of four months. Upper left is “Home”. Upper right is :Nature”. Lower left is “What You Miss”. Lower right is “What You Want in the Future”. (Machine applique and piecing. Hand embroidery.)

Salamander One

Anne Goldberg

This is the first embroidery I have done in many years. I learned a lot while doing it, and I plan to do more. (Hand embroidery, machine quilting)

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

Anne Goldberg

This is one of my favorite Beatles songs, so I welcomed the chance to make it into the quilt. I couldn’t decide how to outline the figure until I saw a video of Ricky Tims showing his Sew Twisted stitch. I knew that was what I needed. (Machine piecing, applique and quilting.)

All That Pizazz

Marsha Gordon

This is a fun, improvisational, design-as-you-go technique creating an impression of colorful stained glass windows. (Stitch and flip technique.)

Kaleidoscope

Marsha Gordon

A fun technique with an element of surprise that will inspire anybody’s creativity. Long arm quilting by quilter. (One Block Wonder – uses 6 identical triangles to create a kaleidoscope-like design. The hexagons are then arranged to create the overall quilt design.)

Legacy

Marsha Gordon

Represents a collection of T-shirts from my grandson’s activities and interests during his high school years. Quilted by Windy City Quilting. (Tee shirt quilt.)
