Adina’s Posey Pals

Jan Aaron

Adina is a cute little 2-year-old related to my husband through his father and Adina’s great grandmother. We have very few relatives on that side of our family so we like to share special times and things with them. (Raw edge applique with hand buttonhole embroidery; machine quilted by Sarah Evans.)

Winter Cardinals

Jan Aaron

Small applique quilts have become my “go-to” projects as they are portable and easy to do when traveling. I was drawn to this pattern and found it fun to do. (Hand appliqued, hand quilted.)

A Quilt for a Cop

Gretchen Alexander

Quilts for Cops is a national organization providing handmade quilts for police and other first responders who are injured in the line of duty. The Chicago group, hosted by the Chicago Police Chaplins Ministry, meets monthly! Come join us! (Machine pieced and machine quilted. Nancy Gonzalez is the long-arm quilter.)

XOXO

Mario Alonso

I’m a great procrastinator and I wanted to make a quick lap quilt to celebrate our 45th. I saw this pattern technique on-line that is made using a jelly roll. I liked that the pattern changes so that sometimes it looks like an X and at other times an O. Hence XOXO. My local quiltContinue reading “XOXO

Scarlet Begonias – Grateful Dead

Melanie Anderson

She had rings on her fingers and bells on her toes and I knew without asking she was into the blues; she wore scarlet begonias tucked into her curls; I knew right away she was not like other girls… (Pieced, appliqued, embellished.)

Cubed Sash

Melanie Anderson

I cannot let a scrap go to waste. This quilt is the use of sashing for another quilt that I ended up re-sizing the sashing for. Hundreds of one-inch strips? Voila! (Machine pieced, boro stitched.)

With Thanks to Gustav

Melanie Anderson

One Block Wonder uses a single fabric, cut into 6 repeats, to create hexagons. I enjoy the surprise element of working through a one block wonder. (One Block Wonder)

Spring I

Jaclyn Bae

It was a long, cold winter. COVID-19 stopped everything, and many lives were lost. People became wary of each other, and it felt impossible to meet with loved ones. Yet we endured with hope, waiting for spring. (Hand dyed, discharged color of used denim jeans, hand rolled up.)

Spring II

Jaclyn Bae

It was a long, cold winter. COVID-19 stopped everything, and many lives were lost. People became wary of each other, and it felt impossible to meet with loved ones. Yet we endured with hope, waiting for spring. (Hand dyed, discharged color of used denim jeans, hand rolled up.)

Spring III

Jaclyn Bae

It was a long, cold winter. COVID-19 stopped everything, and many lives were lost. People became wary of each other, and it felt impossible to meet with loved ones. Yet we endured with hope, waiting for spring. (Hand dyed, discharged color of used denim jeans, hand rolled up.)

Spring IV

Jaclyn Bae

It was a long, cold winter. COVID-19 stopped everything, and many lives were lost. People became wary of each other, and it felt impossible to meet with loved ones. Yet we endured with hope, waiting for spring. (Hand dyed, discharged color of used denim jeans, hand rolled up.)

Chuppah for Sukkat Shalom

Cathy Baker

A chuppah is a Jewish wedding canopy symbolizing a roof over the married couple’s home. The Hebrew letter translates to mean “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine”. This Chuppah was created for Congregation Sukkat Shalom in Wilmette in honor of Founding Rabbi Sam Gordon’s retirement. (Machine pieced and quilted, fusible applique.)

Winki Stars for Susie

Cathy Baker

This quilt was made for my beautiful mom who as a little girl looked like the child in the backgroud fabric. At 90 years old she still remembers what it feels like to be a little girl with a kite! (Machine pieced (all Y-seams) and quilted.)

East Meets Morris

Carole Bates

The medllion was from a Broderie Perse class with Anita Shakleford. The rest is my design. I used more than 2 miles of gold thread for the embroidery. (Needleturn hand applique, Broderie Perse, embroidery, beading and hand quilted.)

Save the Whales

Kim Berry-Rogers

Hundreds of thousands of whales and other sea animals are trapped in nets every year. Once entangled they will likely perish. Yarn couched and quilted by Sue Daurio. (Paper pieced, machine applique, yarn couched, machine quilted. Made using cottons and silks, vintage doily and wool threads.)
