Mixed media – fiber, gel medium, paint, layering. My Urban Landscapes/Weathered Walls series references the many layers in life. Cracks in the bark of a tree, chipping and peeling paint, weathering of a brick or stone wall…these things allow us to see the effects of aging, the layers of meaning in passing time. These piecesContinue reading “Textures of Time 3

Mixed media – rock, wire, gel medium, paint, fabric. In Aruba, I found hundreds of dead sea fans washed up on shore. In spite of this evidence of dying reefs, the brown and brittle sea fans are still undeniably beautiful! It is illegal to bring any plant life, even dead, into the US, so IContinue reading “Sea Fan Rose

Quilt was machine pieced by me and machine quilted by Sue DiVarco. I began this quilt a few years ago – decided to move. Poor quilt had to wait to be finished!
Machine pieced. Machine quilted by Sue DiVarco. Rhona and I bought this fabric, separately, and discovered that we both bought the same fabric but different colors. I moved, she moved to California and gave me the quilt top as a gift.
Machine pieced by Georgia Cibul. Machine quilted by Sue DiVarco. Rhona Watkins & I bought the same fabric but different colors. No wonder we are friends. It is similar fabric but 2 different patterns. She gave me her quilt top as a gift and I had it quilted by Sue DiVarco.
Machine quilting, hand embroidery stitching, zentangles printed on fabric. Zentangles were featured at the NSNG summer picnic. They are done on paper. I transferred them to fabric so I could use on the quilt.
Silk fabrics, cigarette silks, vintage laces & ribbons, jewelry, buttons, findings, appliqués, beadwork, embroidered w/vintage silk floss. I put my heart into this quilt and I hope it touches your heart.
Silks, vintage laces & ribbons, jewelry, buttons, findings, cigarette silks, appliqués, hand embroidered w/vintage silk floss. Moving beyond traditional Crazy Quilts allowed me to utilize new techniques and elements.
Pin weaving, couching, hand-gathering. Water is a fascinating subject – the changing colors, shapes & moods are a continuous source of inspiration. This set shows the scene from the same spot at opposite times of the day.
Couching, tucks, hand-gathering, twisted strips, pleating, machine stitching, “bubbling”, cording. The panoramic shape of the panels portrays the vastness of the landscape in a small scale format. Stacking 3 identical shapes emphasizes this idea.
