Background of shredded fabric covered with tulle. Flowers added then another layer of tulle. 3D embroidered flowers & butterfly added last. This was inspired by the blue flax in my yard with an occasional poppy in the mix.

Machine appliqué, embellished with yarn couching, paint sticks and beads. After completing a class project I wanted to try another piece using Cara Gulati’s 3D technique.

Paper pieced embellished with polymer clay (fences, beaks, ears, cats and tail), yarn couching, feathers, fused appliqué, beading and braided fiber. “Farm Yard” was fun to create with all the embellishments. Each time a new element was added another idea came to mind.

Pieced blocks, with machine embroidered blocks embellished with polymer clay eyes & noses and beads. The Heads or Tails guild challenge inspired me to complete this. Adapted from an old pattern in my collection.

Machine pieced and machine quilted on home machine. The blocks were completed in a quilt shop block of the month class series. The border was changed from the original pattern.

Shredded fabric background with flowers & leaves cut out shapes on top covered with tulle then free motion stitched – 3D embroidered flowers added. This is an interesting & sometimes messy technique. Inspired by the poppies in my yard.

Paper pieced and appliquéd to background. Made for a guild challenge in Michigan titled “What I like about Northern Michigan”.

Lattice strips of bound fabric woven. Stem machine appliquéd, flowers & leaves machine embroidered. The flowers and leaves were completed in the hoop machine embroidery and attached. The woven lattice strips were bound then woven.
