Sun Went Down, Turned Around, Came Back Up as the Moon

Linda Feinberg

Machine & hand appliqué, embellished. This design shows the realization that hit me in grammar school that the sun and moon weren’t the same object in the sky. I saw the moon in the sky one afternoon walking home from school and the phrase “Sun went down, turned around, came back up as the Moon” popped into my head. I have since used various media (construction paper and mosaics) to represent this realization. To me this design shows the two sides of life, the yin and yang of people’s experiences, health and well being. This is a copy of the panel I made for the World Parkinson Congress Creativity Exhibit that will be shown in Glasgow, Scotland in September of 2010.
