This painting is a hand-painted batik on satin silk. Layers of fiber reactive dyes and soy wax were used to build all colors.
I love to paint bright flowers and experiment with different color values and contrasts. Working with vibrant hues of pinks, greens and blues fills me with feelings of renewal and excitement for my most cherished seasons of the year; spring and summer.
This original composition was inspired by fields of beautiful tulips. I worked from several sketches and studies of this subject.
