Finally, Almost 50 Years

Beth Polonsky

Basic needlepoint stitches, in wool. Embellished with beads and embroidery. Cotton fabric machine pieced onto the canvas.

When Mitch and I were newlyweds, I started a needlepoint featuring his favorite plants – cacti. It was a kit by Meredith Gladstone. ” @1975″ was printed on the canvas, confirming we were married when I started the piece. Completing the cacti went fast. Background…..boring, slow. Forward 40 years – a friend said she would finish the piece. 5 years later I got it back, still not done. Replaced the brown and beige yarn I “misplaced”. If you see it here today, you’ll know Mitch will finally get this for our 50 year anniversary.
