Aqua Yoga

Sarah Evans

Machine pieced and machine quilted on a frame (longarm).

I practice Aqua Yoga. One of our props are colorful pool noodles; arcs of color that the water dances against as they sit along the edge of the pool waiting to be used. One day in the pool the noodles looked a lot like the curves that I was creating at the machine! Using a technique called “braided curves” learned from Maria Shell I began sewing widths of colorful fabrics together in curves. I made a huge rectangle-ish piece, but I wanted more movement. After hours of making a colorful piece of fabric I cut it up again into squares.
