All hand pieced, fabric are replicas of those used by Jane & Cassandra Austen in the quilt they made shown on the bed at Chawton Cottage, England. IQI members Diane Capitani and Georgia Cibul both worked on this quilt. This replica of the quilt made by Jane & Cassandra Austen, on display at the Jane Austen House Museum, Chawton, England, was unveiled first at 1988 Annual General meeting if the Jane Austen Society of North America in Chicago. Lovingly stitched by 15 of the Chicago members, note the broderie perse element in the center & the surrounding diamonds of 18th century fabric. The quilt never travels, being irreplaceable, but in honor of the 200th anniversary of the publication of 2 of Austen’s famous novels, last year and this year, “Pride & Prejudice” & “Mansfield Park”, & by the efforts of 2 IQI members who are also Jasna-GCR members who worked on the quilt, we are honored to display it here.
