Shibori dyed fabric with Cherrywood solids, hand stitched sashiko, machine pieced and quilted. I dyed the fabric in a workshop with Maggie Weiss. The blocks are log cabins with large “hearths” that feature the designs in the fabric. I added the calming sashiko blocks to counter the busyness of the shibori cabins.

The second in my series of experiments with curves and transparencies. Each color is transformed by the layers above and below, and the results remind me of geologic layers.

Come to Me Be HealedCass Hale
This piece came to me through guidance. When I added the Milagros, which means ‘miracles’ in Spanish, this piece took on a spiritual meaning. Milagros have been used for over 4,000 years to offer protection, healing, or to express gratitude for granted miracles. The hands act as an invitation to the viewer.
