Pomegranate #1Sylvia Dresser
Fuse hand dyed fabric, embellished with beads and hand embroidery. I have always loved pomegranates. Symbolic in many cultures, they are also now said to have health benefits. My mouth waters at the sight of this one!

Autumn Lies Upon the LandSylvia Dresser
Basketry fiber wrapped with wool yarn, embellished with beads. I love the colors of autumn. When I saw this handspun yarn in a store on Washington Island, I immediately knew I wanted to make a basket with it.

Machine pieced, hand quilted, hand embellished with beads and embroidery. There is a marked contrast between the apparent emptiness of the desert and the cultivated, orderly landscape of the Vineyard. One has to look closely to find both the hidden treasures of the desert and the wildness within the cultivated land.
All my marbles are in hereSylvia Dresser
Marbled paper was applied to cardboard to construct this box, in a process known as Cartonnage.

Hand embroidery using strand-able silks on vintage family table linen. Although I’ve stitched for many years, I never thought I could stitch a face. This portrait was created in a class at Arrowmont taught by the awesome Lauren DiCioccio. One of my classmates writes for a British embroidery blogger. “Walt” has been featured on mrXstitch.com

In Loving Memory …Mary Jo Eckhart
Created in Anne Kelly’s NSNG summer seminar class. My maximalist artist friend was my theme. Box was collaged from bits of her original art, cherished mementos, and papers from handling the administration of her estate. A very therapeutic process.
