Dream of IcarusAriel Towers
When I saw this design I thought it was something I had to try. Luckily there was a complete kit available so I didn’t need to search for fabric. It was a challenging and labor intensive endeavor. Just Ten MoreAriel Towers
Traditional piecing. This started out as a challenge to practice my piecing skills, but after ten blocks I said, “maybe just ten more” and then again “maybe ten more” – you get it! (Tula Pink design and fabrics)
Good Day SunshineAriel Towers
Machine embroidery, traditional piecing, ribbon embellishment, hot-fix crystals. This quilt began as a teaching tool to learn how to use an embroidery module that came with a new sewing machine. I was so happy with the result that I decided to make it into a wall hanging.
My Forest DreamAriel Towers
Machine piecing, hand applique, embroidery and embellishments. Hot-fix crystals, crochet. I love all fiber arts and was experimenting with how to combine my beautiful yarns with some gorgeous batiks to create a magical fantasy garden.
My Tropical GardenAriel Towers
Machine applique, machine piecing. I loved the pattern and the challenge of finding just the right fabric for each element. All fabrics are by one of my favorite fabric designers – Kaffe Fassett. (Design by Kim McLean; made and quilted by Ariel Towers)
I Spy…7 cats, 5 snails, 4 foxes and a field mouseAriel Towers
English paper piecing, machine quilted. This pattern has been made by many quilters. My version features almost exclusively the whimsical fabrics of designer Tula Pink. See If you can find all the “hidden” creatures. (Pattern “Smitten” by Lucy Carson Kingwell; designed, pieced and quilted by Ariel Towers)
Desert LifeAriel Towers
Applique, hand stitching. This quilt was born out of my love of the Arizona desert where I often go hiking. During the gray winter I was imagining all the colors and shapes, longing to be out in the sun.
Mon AmourLampkins Tracy
Hand dyed (bleached), layered fused fabric, hand quilted. A play on the Chicago flag. Had a lot of fun bleaching the turquoise batik. Cutting out the layered skyline was tedious, but well worth it. It turned out beautifully.
