Fabric collage with fusible pellon, machine pieced, machine quilted. I uncovered fabric collages I had made 30 years ago. I loved the colors and fabrics, but wanted to use them in a new way. I cut the collage into strips, added other fabrics and gave it new life.

Dark Water Strip Quilt I
Coming Out of COVID IIStaci Raymond
Machine pieced, machine quilted, hand quilted. From March 2020 to December 2021, I obsessively sewed fabric masks, more than 1,200 of them. I gave them to family, friends, teachers, strangers, donating them everywhere possible. For these two quilts, I limited my fabric choices to these “mask” fabrics. I wanted to make something beautiful from theContinue reading “Coming Out of COVID II

Peace in ProcessJanet Rivara
Machine pieced, hand quilted. By using Cherrywood hand dyed fabrics to create a simple “background” I could focus on the meditative quality of the quilting process.

NSNG It was quilted by Amy Parker. I made this for my son in Vermont. He is a soil conservationist for the USDA.
Orange Peel DelightPamula Rock
Curved piecing, paper piecing, long arm quilting. I started this project, pattern by Karen Stone, about 15 years ago. I was pretty much self-taught and came close to finishing it but just couldn’t do a few final curved seams and put it in a box for many years. Finally, after years of looking at itContinue reading “Orange Peel Delight

Happy StarsMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Machine pieced. Long arm quilted by Sue DiVarco. I took Pam Buda’s class in August 2018 and decided to make 1/2 of her big quilt. Pam’s technique of “make it larger and cut it down” is wonderful along with using starch to stiffen the fabrics. Precision can be fun! Design Source – Pam Buda pattern.
Mini Northern LightsMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Machine pieced and quilted. A guild member gave me a shoebox of 1 1/2″ strips her mother had cut. What fun! That mom had a great eye for color, to my benefit. Design Source – Pattern “Mini Northern Lights” by JayBird Quilts.
Little Red SchoolhouseMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Machine pieced and quilted. Design Source – Pattern by Pam Buda.
ArgyleMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Templates to cut all pieces. Machine pieced, longarm quilted. I took a guild workshop taught by Bill Kerr. It was excellent. This paattern was discussed. The precision of the pattern made it a dream to make. Design Source – Pattern kit by Modern Quilt Studio, Oak Park, IL.
Christmas StarsMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Piecing, machine quilted by Windy City Quilting (Sally Evanshank). Organizing the fabrics was the challenge. I really like the log cabin piecing so, once arranged, the piecing went quickly.
True Lover’s KnotMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Piecing, machine quilted at home. A fun challenge to use Karen Comb’s fabric to show motion. I’m interested in how viewers see & move through a design.
Night SkyMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Machine pieced and quilted. This came out of a class and I love making this pattern! I love the crisp edges and how they meet in a geometric star. I thank Sue DiVarco for her beautiful machine quilting!
Summer Pinwheel Fun!Martha Ross-Mockaitis
Machine pieced and quilted. This was a fun project for me to try new color choices. What a fun quilt! Thanks to Sue DiVarco for her machine quilting.
Kokopelli’s SongMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Applique, pieced, quilted. I saw his kit while exploring beautiful New Mexico. This wall hanging will remind me of that trip and the wonderful Native American Art work we saw.
Abigail’s GownsMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Machine sewn & quilted. The Civil War is of great interest to me. I love the reproduction fabrics, their patterns and colors. This quilt is my way to honor the women who sacrificed so much on both sides of the war. I wanted to honor the 150th anniversary of the war.
Angle AnticsMartha Ross-Mockaitis
Machine sewn and quilted. Hand crafted batik fabric from Malaysia. Working with this hand made batik fabric was a challenge! The pattern warned that “the design elements will not match up”. I love the energy of the design and the colors created by other artists.
