Machine pieced, quilted on a longarm – Evanston Quilt Company (my own business). This quilt represents a section of the border on an antique Mexican serape, woven in the 1880’s. The serape measured about 5′ by 8′, and the horizontal parallelograms were approximately 2″ long. The precision of the weaving was remarkable.

All machine piecing & quilting. Laurie Gorton taught this class at the Quilt-In 2013. The central square was done with Laurie’s help. The rest was put together after 2 days of unsuccessfully trying to sew the other 3 squares. Then I just started to put this quilt together, it is magical it turned out!
Each woman in the study donated her 5″ square. I think there are 2 or 3 other quilts like this somewhere. The WHI (Women’s Health Initiative) 1995 – 2005. After the study concluded this quilt has been homeless. Anyone who can give it a home is welcomed to it.

This was a mystery quilt from GEL Design Mystery Quilts. The mystery was entitled Elemental. I chose fabric from the Weather Report Line. Some of the designs were challenging. I pieced the front and back and Barb Jolley was the longarmer. (Machine quilted, the back is my own design.)
Top is machine pieced and appliqued. Custom longarm quilted. Paradise in Bloom is a Judy Niemeyer paper pieced pattern. The fabric selection of batiks and Kaffe Fassett was a kit designed by Tennessee Quilts. Custom longarm quilted by Barb Jolley.
