The maker of the 8 red-framed small squares is unknown. The squares appeared in my stash and play nicely with other black/white fabrics I found. Long arm quilter: Quilter’s Heaven quilt shop, Northbrook, IL

Declaration of IntentPatricia Tamandl Niffenegger
Fused, machine pieced, machine quilted. Although Emile Zola (1840-1902) was a French novelist, not a visual artist, I found this quote inspirational in making my textile pieces. My work reflects a love of bright, saturated colors, words as part of the design and a mix of fabric and techniques.
The Attraction of OppositesPatricia Niffenegger
This quilt puts together complimentary colors of orange and blue. Long arm quilter: Quilter’s Heaven quilt shop, Northbrook, IL
Ribbon as CandyPat Niffenegger
NSNG Ribbon, ultrasuede, woven pillow cover, sequins and beads: handstitched and machine stitched on canvas. Quote: “Ribbon is the candy of the textile world”. Enroute to a quilting retreat in southern Illinois, I spotted an antique shop with everything 50% off. Who could resist that? A lover/collector of rag rugs, I bought the woven pillowContinue reading “Ribbon as Candy

Machine pieced and machine quilted. This quilt was made using a Bali Pop (2 1/2″ strips) from Hoffman Fabrics for the skinny side logs and a cream color fabric for the fat logs. The 2 1/2″ strips were cut in half to get the 1 1/4″ logs which finish 3/4″. The beauty of this patternContinue reading “Curved Log Cabin #1

Vera AnnKatie Ordover
Machine pieced & longarm quilted. I made this quilt for my cousin, Vera Ann, who was named after her dear great grandmother. It is based on the “Oops a Daisy” pattern with original appliqué design. I always add a bit of black to my baby quilts for sophistication.
FiremenKatie Ordover

McKenzie KayKatie Ordover

Blue GardenKatie Ordover
Machine pieced; machine quilted. All quilters have in their fabric stash prints they love but are difficult to incorporate into a piece. I was inspired by a pattern by Heather Mulder Peterson and finally able to use some of this crazy floral print.
