Magic Squares

Amy Spungen

Machine pieced and quilted. I made this at a 2013 Quilt-In workshop led by Laurie Gorton. Debbie Bookman quilted it.

Modified Hunter Star

Amy Spungen

Machine pieced and quilted, embellished with turquoise stone and beads. I made this at a workshop held at the 2013 Quilt-In, led by Chris Deering.

Underground Blues

Amy Spungen

Machine pieced and quilted. A queen-size quilt is challenging to quilt on my little Bernina! I made this to go in my daughter Hannah’s bedroom and next on my list are a couple of matching pillows.

Diamonds

Amy Spungen

Machine pieced and quilted. Owned by Holly and Paul Gladd of Potomac, Maryland I designed this quilt using scraps from another project. They appear there as diamond shapes. All the other material came from my fabric stash.

X-Box

Amy Spungen

Machine pieced and quilted using primarily batik fabrics. This basket weave pattern had tricky “L” seams and it took me years (3) to finish because I kept putting it down!

Beloved

Amy Spungen

I made this silk chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy) for my daughter Hannah’s wedding last May. The design incorporates pieces of both my wedding dress and Hannah’s (she didn’t want a train). (Machine pieced and stitched. Silk, including wedding dress remnants.)

Floaters

Amy Spungen

I made this quilt for my daughter Naomi. I began it at a workshop taught by Phyllis Fay. (Machine pieced and stitched cotton.)

Liberated Stars

Amy Spungen

Machine pieced and quilted. In Gwen Marstan’s book “Liberated Quiltmaking II”, the patterns and “non-rules” appealed to me. I had a lot of fun making this quilt. Thanks, Gwen!

Prairie Star

Amy Spungen

Machine pieced and quilted. This quilt is based on the Prairie Star pattern designed by Judy Niemeyer. I used batik fabrics from my stash.
