Colorado in the Fall

Jan Sneesby Aaron

Paper pieced; machine quilted by Sally Evanshank, Windy City Quilting

There are thousands of traditional quilt blocks, including one called the Pineapple. The blocks continue to endure because quiltmakers can add their own special touches, whether it be a distinctive color combination or slight modification of the block design. It was a pineapple block design modification that caught my attention in Quilter's Newsletter Magazine and that led to this quilt. Made for a wedding gift, the young couple live in Denver and wanted me to use fall colors in their quilt. It has over 200 reds, oranges, greens and browns. I chose to tie them all together with an almost white batik that for me symbolized the dappling of sunshine one sees when walking through the woods on a sunny day.
