Spring finally has Sprung!
Jeanette B. Page
applique, machine joined
This quilt represents work that began in 1935 by my Mother, Evelyn Schrepfer, at the age of 18 in Peoria, IL. Much later, the uncompleted hand pieced work was given by my Mother to my sister, Suzanne Bucher, when she turned 18 in 1965. When Suzanne's hand work was completed 48 years later, in 2013, she gave me, Jeanette Bucher Page, her completed hand work to piece together without any completion directions, together with a small amount remaining fabric. I used the remaining fabric to complete the quilt and added the digital daffodil prints to give it a 21st century look. When completed, I was able to fit the balance of the fabric into a sandwich size plastic ziplock. Hopefully, my Mother would be proud of my efforts to display her work in 2012 by entering it in my Guild's annual project, UFO (unfinished objects). Now, that the quilt has reached 78 years of age since its conception in 1935, it will be displayed here in The Fine Art of Fibre at the Chicago Botanic Garden in November 2013.
